The proposed plan supports actions identified in the 2040 Arapahoe County Transportation Master Plan, which identified building and supporting EV charging infrastructure as one way the County can facilitate the increase of EV usage.

Goals of the draft plan include the County supporting the transition of 12 percent of registered vehicles to zero tail-pipe emission vehicles and installing a combined 3,097 public Level Two and DC fast charging ports equitably distributed across the County by 2030.

The draft plan also outlines plans to:

  • Outreach and Education—Conduct annual community surveys to understand existing barriers to EV adoption and communitywide EV outreach, as well as support EV training opportunities for first and second responders.
  • Charging Infrastructure—Map potential charging locations, promote public charging funding and resources.
  • Fleet Electrification—Encourage public fleets to conduct analysis to recommend opportunities for electrification and support EV training for mechanics and technicians.
  • Electric Multimodal Transportation—Partner with regional entities to support electric multimodal options, incorporate electric into network planning and coordinate countywide adoption of consistent electric multimodal policies.

The draft plan was developed collaboratively with a group of stakeholders through four planning workshops held between January 2022 and July 2023.

Stakeholders include representatives from Aurora, 百周年, Cherry Hills Village, 恩格尔伍德, 利特尔顿, 谢里丹, 格林伍德村, 鹿的踪迹, E470, Denver Regional Transportation of Governments, 丹佛南部, Drive Clean Colorado, Regional Economic Advancement Partnership, Regional Transportation District, South Suburban Parks and Recreation, Colorado Department of Transportation, Colorado Energy Office, Core Electric Cooperative, Arapahoe 社区 College, Arapahoe库, Xcel Energy and Partners in Energy, an Xcel Energy community collaboration.

After the public comment period ends, the draft will be revised. A final draft will be submitted to the Arapahoe County Board of County Commissioners for adoption in the coming months.
